**Linear Lake Resting Programme**

For those of you who missed the original past last month, please see below for details of the fisheries close-down period at the end of June.

We have taken the decision to introduce some annual resting periods for all of our Day Ticket Waters. From this summer onwards, we will close the entire day-ticket site for two weeks every summer, the last two weeks in June to be precise. Although this is a very busy period for us, we feel our stocks of fish need a break, and this seems to be an ideal time to implement it. Judging on past years, this period should fall, not long after the carp have spawned, the perfect time to give them a rest. As in previous years, we will of course continue to close lakes and or parts of lakes, as and when the carp spawn.

Further to this we are also going to implement a rolling three week closure for every lake later in the year, this will commence in late Autumn, through the winter and into early Spring. Basically from around the middle of October, we will close each lake for three weeks, one after another, until about the second week in March.

As this decision was only made recently, for this summer’s break we will have to honour three, 48-hour bookings, one for the Tenchfishers and two other lake bookings, but this will still give all the fish a good rest. In future years, no bookings will be taken during the summer rest period. We understand that some of you may have booked time off work to fish the complex during this summer period. To those of you who have, we can only apologise and hope you understand our decision, it is something that we feel really needs to be done.

We will not be implementing the resting periods on the Guy Lakes Syndicate, at least for now, but we will review this decision at the end of this year. The Guys complex does not see anywhere near the amount of pressure that the day ticket waters receive, but they will of course continue to be closed as and when required during spawning time and for maintenance.

To finish, we now hope that when you couple the new lake resting periods, with when we already close waters for either spawning or maintenance, each water should get around seven weeks break each year.
Exact dates of the summer closure are as follows: The whole day ticket complex will be closed from 5pm Sun 18th June 2017 until about 7:30am Mon 3rd July 2017. (*You will need to be off the site by 5pm on the 18th of June*). (*When arriving on Monday the 3rd of July, please wait in the early arrival car park, adjacent to Hardwick Lake – Do not park in front of any of the gates or on the main road*).

The Linear team will be about to answer any questions and there will be a number of exhibitors and well known faces on hand to give all the advice you need on anything "carpy". Some of the exhibitors will be selling, with others just there to display their products. This one day event will commence at 9am and finish at about 4pm, hot food and drink will be available and there will be ample parking, although there may be a spot of walking from the car, depending on how busy it gets.
Those already confirmed are Solar Tackle , Kudos Tackle, Sonubaits, Avid Carp, Shimano, Dynamite Baits, Sticky Baits, Blakes Baits, Hybrid Tackle, Deception Angling, Tails-Up, Aqua Products, Trakker, Korda, Franks Leads, King of the Pond, Fat Fish Tackle, Sandhurst Baits, Deeper Ridge Monkey, Hungry Carper and Nash.
As always the Open day will be raising money for charity, this year we are supporting the ‘Thames Valley Air Ambulance’ and ‘Save the Children’- There will be a tombola, various raffles and guess the number of boilies, all with great prizes on offer. Last year’s Open-Day Cake Sale went down really well, so the local Ducklington under-8’s Football Team will be there again selling teas, coffee’s and cakes to raise money for their next season.
All the stands will be located on the western side of Brasenose-Two and will require driving past anglers fishing on Hardwick/Smiths and Brasenose-One, please respect those anglers fishing by sticking to the speed limit and causing as little disturbance as possible. We hope you find the day enjoyable and cross our fingers that the weather is kind to us. See you there!!!
***During the event, the following swims will be closed on Brasenose-Two from about 4pm on Friday the 19th: Swims 1-15, 23, 24 and 34 ***

Oxlease Lake

**Oxlease Lake Re-Opening 26th April**

We are pleased to announce that Oxlease Lake will re-open it's gates at 7:30am next Wednesday, the 26th of April. The fish are very active and seem in great condition, so we feel the time is right to re-open the water. The water has now been closed for 6-months so it will be great to see anglers back on the water!

If you are arriving next Wednesday morning then please park in an orderly fashion along the track leading up to Oxlease Lake. Please note this track runs adjacent to Newlands Angling Club's Specimen Lake, where there will be anglers fishing, so please park up quietly and respect those fishing there. Please also ensure that you all park to one side and leave enough room for the fishery 4x4 to come and open the gates in the morning.

We all look forward to seeing you back down on Oxlease next week.

Brasenose Two

**Lake Closure for two days in May**
Brasenose-two will be closed on Tuesday 2nd of May and Wednesday 3rd of May for line, weed and snag clearance. We have also temporarily closed peg 10 on B-2 due to what we believe to be a line-snag, that is cutting anglers lines. Hopefully we can find this when we do the work.

Hardwick Lake & Smiths Pool

Jay landed a 26lb mirror, his only fish of a 48-hour session.

Harry Button, who has been down on work experience from Sparsholt, landed a new PB 34lb common.

And Nick Hart from Southport caught a number of fish during a recent session, his biggest two weighed 33lb 09oz and 31lb.

Brasenose Two

After landing a massive catfish from St. Johns Pool, David Whitehouse moved to Brasenose-Two where he went on to landed a very respectable 37lb 06oz mirror.

Also on B-2 was Kieran Chandler who landed mirrors of 18lb and 29lb.

And Adam Biddulph landed 38 fish up to 23lb 15oz fell to fake corn fished over a tightly baited area.

Angie Lawley had a 21lb common and 35lb 10oz mirror using the same Sonubaits gear as Chris.

Fishing with Chris Lowe on a Tutorial was Ade who landed three fish up to 20lb, again on Sonubaits boilies, pellets and particles.

Dave Pillman has landed a number of fish including a 27lb 08oz mirror and 32lb 08oz fish, all caught using Madbaits wicked whites & CTS boilies.

Rich Atkins topped an impressive session with a 32lb 04oz mirror and a 35lb 14oz mirror known as the 'Auntie Albert Fish'.

**Swim Availability**

There are a handful of swims free around the site, but for all intensive purposes the site if full. PLEASE do not travel down first thing tomorrow as you will be disappointed and have to wait. There are plenty of people due off tomorrow but most of them won't start leaving until around midday.

All things being well, we will have Oxlease Lake open ready for the next bank holiday at the end of the month, this should make it easier to find a swim. We'll confirm the opening date for Oxlease soon, but it's like it will be Wednesday 26th April.

**Special Offer for all Linear Fisheries Customers**

Linear Fisheries is selling the New Gardner Tackle Intensive Care Treatment, at a very low price. This Excellent product really should be a must for all anglers to carry in their kit bags. It is designed for treating cuts, sores or hook-holds on fish and comes highly recommended.
We are going to make this product available to all anglers that visit the site, for only £6, this very special offer will probably mean we actually lose money on each sale. However we feel it's far more important to enable all visiting anglers to look after our precious fish without breaking the bank. RRP is normally £10.
This offer is only available to anglers visiting the site, either from our bailiff's on the bank-side or from the fishery office in-between St. Johns and Manor Farm Lakes. So make sure you get one of these the next time you visit the site.

**Linear Lake Resting Programme**

As most of you will be aware, we had a health issue with Oxlease Lake, that occurred in October last year, an issue that led us to closing and resting the water. The Lake's stock are now looking in great condition and although it would be nice to open Oxlease today, as we really are struggling for room around the site, we are going to stick to our guns, and keep it closed until the last week in April, just to make sure they have all come out of the winter OK. So please bear with us until this water re-opens. (We will confirm the exact date soon).
We are still none the wiser as to what caused this issue, as all tests came back clear, however one thing we can't rule out is stress. Why this would only affect one of our waters, does bring into question whether stress could be valid conclusion? That said, it is a very real and possible cause that must be considered!
Due to this we have taken the decision to introduce some annual resting periods for all of our Day Ticket Waters.
